PROSPECTIVE FAMILIES

How do I get on the waiting list?

How does the Nia House Waiting List work?

  1. Add your child and family economic information to the form below.

  2. Upon filling out this form, you are automatically added to our list. You will not receive a confirmation email. After clicking the SUBMIT button, if your screen reads "Your child is on our Waiting List!", you've made it.

  3. Nia House will contact you if your child and family meet the requirements of an opening.

  4. Tours are available after you’ve been contacted for a potential opening for your child.

Do you have any current openings?

Please join our waiting list for the chance that an opening becomes available.

At Nia House, children begin in our Toddler Program at 18 months - 3 years old. The toddlers then become members of our Primary Program. Since our toddlers fill our Primary, it is rare for us to have Primary openings.

Toddler enrollment happens throughout the year. Each opening is different based on the child's age and family income. Please add your child to the Waiting List and we will contact you if you match the school's enrollment opening.

What is your tuition rate?

Full fee tuition for incoming primary children in the 2024-25 school year is $2492 per month with a full year contract.

YEP - Berkeley Youth Equity Partnership

Nia House partners with the City of Berkeley to uphold the citywide initiative that strives for African American/Black and Latinx young people who live and/or go to school in Berkeley to thrive academically, physically, and emotionally. Nia House supports this effort in a myriad of ways including:

  • access to affordable care for children 0-5

  • high quality care

  • child development, school readiness, and mutual support with parents and caregivers

Financial Aid Eligibility

Families with income (pre-tax) less than 120% of the average median income in Alameda County, may be eligible for a scholarship at Nia House. On an annual basis, Nia House subsidizes tuition in the amount of $350,000 or more for approximately 45% of enrolled Nia House families.

Financial Aid Goals

  • To prioritize the financial needs of BIPOC (black, Indigenous and people of color) families

  • To support BIPOC families of diverse socio-economic backgrounds in generating wealth for long term financial security

Can we tour the school?

You are welcome to tour the school once there is a potential opening for your child. We will contact you when this is a possibility.

What is your schedule? Can my child attend part time?

We do not offer part-time care. Nia House's schedule was designed to meet the needs of working families. That's why we are a year-round and full-day program.

Nia House wants families to spend time together. Naturally, children will miss a day or get picked up early here and there to spend time with family. We certainly support that.
